World Travel Awards European Gala in Turkey
The European ceremony of the prestigious World Travel Awards took place at the Rixos Premium Belek, Antalya, Turkey on Friday, 1st October. Described as the ‘Oscars’ of the international travel and tourism industry by the Wall Street Journal, World Travel Awards celebrated seventeen years of quality and preeminent customer service.
Truly a night of mixed emotions, the European Gala Night was attended by leading personalities from the tourism industry. Among the winners were Turkish Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Mardan Palace, Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa, Rixos Sungate, Turkish Culture & Tourism Office, Europcar, P&O Ferries and easyJet.
While Istanbul was crowned Europe’s Leading Destination, Lisbon was named Europe’s Leading City Break Destination and ‘Welcome to Yorkshire’ became Europe’s Leading Marketing Campaign. All the winners of the regional ceremony will now fight for the World Travel Awards 2010 scheduled to be held in London just before World Travel Market that takes place on Sunday, 7th November.
The event was accented by the globally renowned ‘Fire of Anatolia’ dance act featuring 45 stunning dancers swirling to conventional folk music. A scintillating performance by the Magic Drifters added to the excitement of this much awaited event.
